Make Do and Mend: Good Band to Check Out!

Whilst rummaging through material of new and up-and-coming bands to write about, I kept coming back to these guys. Make Do and Mend. They are set to release Bodies of Water in the next few days. Hailing from West Hartford CT, the new tunes will be available on vinyl or cd. Tour dates mostly on the east coast and west coast. Nothing in the middle 2/3 of the US for now. Their sound is classic and fresh at the same time, going down familiar roads but not getting stuck there. Tuneful, post-HC/punk and thoughtful lyrics. Check them out!

Make Do and Mend: Excellent Free Album Download

Make Do and Mend  are a band from Connecticut that currently has their album up for free download on their myspace page. I have to say I like what I hear. The collection is called "Bodies of Water" and I like the fact that rather than sounding derrivative of so many other bands, they have a sound reminiscent of late 80's and early 90's hardcore bands like Die Kreuzen, Naked Raygun, Husker Du, and Pegboy. Not screamo hardcore like today, but good alternative, creative passionate music.
On tracks like Shambles, there is a nice use of dynamics that carries the song along. Others like Winter Wasteland and Father have a passion and drive to them that reminds me of a day when music was important. This is good stuff. I encourage you to download the tracks, and go see them live. It looks like they are on tour right now. If you never got to see the Huskers or Naked Raygun, you might just hear a trace of them here.

Live simply so that others may simply live.

Become the Media

Don't listen to the one-sided corporate-owned media. They are not in the business of finding the truth. They are only concerned about making money for themselves and their stock holders. If they do report the truth, it is only because it suits their business plan. A happy accident...
Become the media! Blog it, film it, record it...
You still have credibility... They don't.
