And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead will be releasing their seventh full length on February 8, 2011. The record is titled Tao of the Dead and will be the second on their own imprint, Richter Scale Records. The album comes almost exactly two years after the February 2009 release of The Century of Self .

The band will of course be touring in support of the new album, kicking things off in Europe at the end of March on a co-headlining tour with Rival Schools and then heading out in the US at the end of April – dates to be announced shortly.

Followers of this blog know that one of my favorite bands and band names out there is "...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead". Century of Self is the title, and as usual the Austin- based band pushes the sonic envelope. From the samples on their website and myspace, I am looking forward to the new offering. I hear shades of Husker Du, Smashing Pumpkins and a lot of other sonic mayhem in their sound. Hoping a tour will follow.

The band with perhaps my favorite name of all time ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead  have announced they will release their sixth album in February 2009 on Richter Scale/Justice Records. It was produced by Chris Coady (TV On The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, etc.). With a style that is hard to describe, dabbling into post punk, emo, hardcore, art rock... I caught on to these guys on the "Madonna" cd. Not Madonna the singer, the cd was called Madonna. I loved the way their sound had dynamics. Soft and loud sections, interspersed with extraneous sounds and tones. Cryptic songs. And on of the most interesting websites of any band. "Source Tags and Codes" and "Madonna" are my altime favorites. Hope this new cd lives up to those.

According to their website, Austin- based ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead confirms they are soon to release some new material. It's done, it doesn't have a title or any artwork (yet) and it's coming out on the boys' own Justice Records imprint Richter Scale Records.
There's an EP too called "Festival Thyme" coming out on October 21st. They have been playing a few shows with My Bloody Valentine as of late, but currently no information on a tour for the new album. I hooked on these guys during the Madonna album and Source Tags and Codes. Interesting music full of drama and dynamics. Can't wait for the new cd.

This link is for some videos I tagged. There are great videos in there once you wade past the crap like Lil Wayne and Jeezy and other people with no talent and stupid names... I made a playlist of bands like Dropkick Murphys, Pennywise, NOFX, ...and you will know us by the Trail of Dead, and others. I am old enough to remember music videos before MTV became a reality show sleazefest. I wish there was a channel that played good punk, alternative, hardcore and the like videos. If you have Insight Cable, they do have some good music videos, but you have to queue them up one at a time, which is a pain.
