Country Music Legend Merle Haggard is battling lung cancer. He has had a cancerous growth removed from one of his lungs. I hate to hear about his failing health. Merle Haggard has been a driving force in "real" country music for the last four decades. I have a loathing for modern country that defies description. I am so tired of the crap Nashville has hoisted upon the listeners of this proud genre since the late 70's. On the alt country scene, there are many great bands and artists, who of course, never see the light of day on country radio which sucks in ways I cannot begin to describe here.
Merle has been a true voice, a singer songwriter of the highest notch, who sings about things he has lived, not just something they gave him to sing. When Merle and George Jones are gone, they can close the Grand Ole Opry and burn Nashville like Sherman did Atlanta.
Just my opinion. Get well Merle!
